2 days of workshops by dance artists, for dance artists


Inquiring Bodies Cheshire has been developed to support and showcase the community of practising dance artists who live and work in Cheshire. The aim of this two day event is to create a mutually supportive environment for exploration, for trying out and testing new ideas, for sharing practice and for creating stronger links amongst the freelance dance community in Cheshire.


Call Out for Guest Dance Artists

Cheshire Dance is looking for 4 Guest Dance Artists to each deliver a half day workshop as part of Inquiring Bodies Cheshire. This workshop could be sharing of your own practice or a current project, and offers a space to try out ideas among a supportive community.

 

This opportunity is for Cheshire-based dance artists and Cheshire Dance freelance artists (who may be based outside of Cheshire but work in Cheshire).

 


We welcome applications from any forms and styles of dance and from artists at different stages of their careers.

 

 

 

Fee:

Each artist will be paid £250 to plan and deliver their half day workshop and take part in a short reflective activity with Cheshire Dance.

Dates & Venue:

Inquiring Bodies will take place in Autumn 2021 – the dates and venue are still to be confirmed but we are aiming for either:
Friday 24th and Saturday 25th September OR Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd October
At a venue in Cheshire West.

Kickstart Scheme at Cheshire Dance

 

Cheshire Dance is supporting Young People through the Government's Kickstart scheme with three roles coming up within our team:

  1. 1. Creative Programming & Producing Assistant
  2. 2. Community Dance Practice Assistant
  3. 3. Marketing Assistant

To apply you must be:

  • * Aged 16-24 years old
  • * Claiming Universal Credit
  • * Registered with your local Job Centre Plus

Kickstarter Role

Creative Programming & Producing Assistant

Job Title: Creative Programming and Producing Kickstarter

Responsible to: Creative Director

Employment Basis: Part Time, 25 hours per Week
Temporary 6 month fixed term contract

Hours: 25 hours per week
TOIL system operates

Place of Work: Cheshire Dance main office (Winsford Library) and home working

 

Specification:

The Creative Programming and Producing Kickstarter role has three elements:

  • * To work with the Creative Director to assist and input into the design, curation, development and production Cheshire Dance projects and events.
  • * To develop and deliver an individual creative project – linked to their area of work, supported by the Creative Director.
  • * To collaborate with the Marketing and Community Dance Kickstarters to design and realise a creative project together.

 

Main Tasks

  • * Contribute to Cheshire Dance’s artistic vision and planning
  • * Support project and event design
  • * Input into curation of artistic events and programmes
  • * Creating project and event plans
  • * Carrying out risk assessments for events
  • * Communicating with partners and stakeholders (such as participants, audiences, artists and other project partners)
  • * Contributing to the design of project evaluations
  • * Carrying out project and event evaluations
  • * To develop and deliver an individual creative project – linked to their area of work, supported by the Creative Director
  • * To collaborate with the Marketing and Community Dance Kickstarters to design and realise a creative project together
  • * To creatively document and reflect on their work and learning through film/blog/vlog or similar
  • * Play a full role as a member of the Cheshire Dance core team, attending team meetings, contributing to conversations and development, liaising with and supporting the team in the delivery of its Business Plan and reporting to the Creative Director.

 

Special Conditions

Creative Programming and Producing Kickstarter role may require some evening and weekend work. Respecting the flexibility that this will require of the postholder, Cheshire Dance will equally enable the post-holder to work flexibly, operating a Time Off In Lieu system.

The Creative Programming and Producing Kickstarter post holder will need to be willing to attend meetings and events across the Cheshire West borough and ideally would need access to good transport links or own transport, and/or the willingness to attend meetings virtually.

Community Dance Practice Assistant

Job Title: Community Dance Kickstarter

Responsible to: Cheshire West Dance Development Artist

Employment Basis: Part Time, 25 hours per Week

Place of Work: Cheshire Dance main office (Winsford Library), various sites in Cheshire West borough and home working

 

Specification

The Community Dance Kickstarter role has three elements:

  • * To work with the Cheshire West Dance Development Artist to assist in the planning, development and delivery of dance sessions in the community and education settings. This role combines dance development and practical dance delivery.
  • * To develop and deliver an individual creative project – linked to their area of work, supported by the Cheshire West Dance Development Artist.
  • * To collaborate with the Marketing and Programming Kickstarters to design and realise a creative project together.

 

Our top criteria are to have a willingness to learn and develop knowledge within the arts. Previous experience isn’t essential and all tasks will be undertaken with the support of an expert mentor.

 

Main Tasks

  • * Contribute to the development and delivery of the Cheshire West dance programme

  • * Engage in shadowing dance sessions in order to develop dance teaching and facilitation skills – particularly with young people, older adults and people with learning disabilities
  • * Support and work towards co-leading dance sessions in the community
  • * Engage in reflective practice to develop dance skills
  • * To commit to developing their own artistic practice – though research, workshops, shadowing opportunities and development of own ideas.
  • * Support project planning including design, development, delivery and evaluation.
  • * Carrying out risk assessments for dance activity
  • * Communicating with partners and stakeholders (such as participants, audiences, artists and other project partners)
  • * To develop and deliver an individual creative project – linked to their area of work, supported by the Cheshire West Dance development artist
  • * To collaborate with the Marketing and Programming Kickstarters to design and realise a creative project together

Marketing Assistant

Job Title: Marketing Kickstarter

Responsible to: Marketing and Events Co-ordinator

Employment Basis: Part Time, 25 hours per Week

Specification

The Marketing Kickstarter role has three elements:

  • * To work with the Marketing and Events Co-ordinator to assist in cultivating a dynamic relationship between Cheshire Dance and its diverse audiences and stakeholders, particularly online and through social media.
  • * To develop and deliver an individual creative project – linked to their area of work, supported by the Marketing and Events Co-ordinator.
  • * To collaborate with the Community Dance and Programming Assistants to design and realise a creative project together. (These individuals will pertain to the Cheshire Dance Kickstarter Programme).

 

Main Tasks

  • * Social media campaigns (content and graphic creation)
  • * Campaign scheduling and tracking
  • * Creation of a content calendar
  • * Support with the creation of flyers and web graphics
  • * Developing written marketing content – such as social media posts, blogs, press releases or website copy
  • * Provide supporting for email marketing campaigns
  • * Creation of video content
  • * Carrying out research into Cheshire Dance audiences and identifying opportunities to improve marketing and communications
  • * To develop and deliver an individual creative project – linked to their area of work, supported by the Marketing and Events Co-Ordinator
  • * To collaborate with the Community Dance and Programming Assistants to design and realise a creative project together
  • * To creatively document and reflect on their work and learning through film/blog/vlog or similar
