Jan is a retired independent dance artist, governor and Board member.
Person centred practice with a belief that every move made with intention is valuable underpinned Jan’s work as an independent dance artist with over 40 years’ experience. Jan has worked in education (nursery, primary, secondary, HE and FE, (mainstream and special education), community (all ages, physicalities and cognitive abilities), health (mental health, elders), prison service (prisons, probation services), delivering at conferences, delivering CPD for teachers and dance artists, research, project management, performance, and choreography.
Since moving to the North West 30 years ago Jan has made strong connections with all the dance organisations in the NW and has always advocated for the voice of the dance artist. Volunteer work has involved being a governor at a local primary school, Board member of Cheshire Dance covering all roles including Chair, involvement in local arts festivals and advocacy for the dance sector.
Embodiment through dance has the power to bring joy, learning, improved health, and creativity, which is why Jan has loved the work she has done and looks forward to continued involvement and challenge in the dance sector. Jan was awarded her MA Dance Studies from John Moore’s University Liverpool, a BEd (Hons) from London University Goldsmiths, a Cert Ed from Laban, London, LRAD Royal Academy of Dance London.
