Project #2: Queer Histories (by artist Connor Elliman) is a creative initiative for young LGBTQ+ people aged 14-25, living in and around the City of Chester. This project is currently being developed through ideas from the young people who participated in Project #1. Over the coming months we will work closely with Chester Pride, Cheshire Archives, Storyhouse, and other partnering organisations to explore queer history with our group of young people.
Creative sessions will run from January 2023 – August 2023.
This is a youth led project, which will work towards ‘an exhibition’ – the content of which will be decided by the young people. For this project we will be welcoming creatives from all genres – those with interests in dance, drama, singing, writing, photography, film making, crafts, banner making… or maybe none of the above.
Young people aged between 14 and 25 who are living in or around Chester and who identify as LGBTQ+ are encouraged to come along and take part in the project.
This is a FREE project for young people to attend, meet others in their community, and learn about their history. The culminating exhibition will be presented at Chester Pride 2023, and will be archived by Cheshire Archives soon after.
