Josie was awarded a first class BA(hons) in Contemporary Dance from Trinity Laban and MA with Distinction in Dance and Somatic Wellbeing, University of Central Lancashire.
Josie joins the team in this permanent role after freelancing with Cheshire Dance for many years, and previously covering the Dance Development Role as a maternity cover in 2022. Having worked freelance in community, theatre, education and health settings for the past 10 years, Josie’s current freelance work includes Programme Coordinator for Live Well and Dance with Parkinson’s Greater Manchester for People Dancing, and working with Manchester Art Gallery and Manchester Population Health on their project, Art of Resilience. Other work includes with organisations such as Royal Exchange Theatre, Z-arts, Manchester Art Gallery, Bolton Octagon, Community Arts North-West, The Turnpike, ICTheatre and Artis Foundation.
Her approach is rooted in somatics and improvisation, often integrating multi-disciplinary creative practices. She has a wealth of experience developing and facilitating projects mainly with, children and young people, early years and families, older adults and people with learning disabilities. She is passionate about collaboration and is interested in developing responsive projects that encourage participants to find their own creative voice.
